Irregularly shaped area of unfenced open hillside located on mainland Shetland. The site area extends to 1.03 acres and incorporates the point at which Red Burn joins the Burn of Breitoe to form the Burn of Channerwick. It is understood that most of the water supply structures have been demolished with the site currently used for grazing. The site is located adjacent to the A970 trunk road which runs from Sumburgh Airport in the south to Lerwick, the main town of Shetland. The largest island, known simply as "Mainland", has an area of 967 km2 (373 sq mi), making it the third-largest Scottish island and the fifth-largest of the British Isles. There are an additional 15 inhabited islands. The archipelago has an oceanic climate, a complex geology, a rugged coastline and many low, rolling hills.
